11:02 pm - Pictures - 3027 Halloween Party 10/14/06
Pictures courtesy of Mikey

April and I as sexy school girls!

Me with Mikey as Jack Skellington

April and I with Damien as "Spider-Ban"

Mikey and April

Party on Saturday was awesome as usual. Defiantly a much smaller turnout, but still fun. Lots of great costumes, but I was disappointed that many people didn't have one. Philip's firebreathing was awesome as well ::drool:: I'm his little groupie.

My costume with April was a hit. We were actually disappointed because we wanted to think of something more original, but it turned out great anyway. I love Halloween, I don't believe I didn't dress up or do a damn thing last year... first year ever. Boyfriend at the time didn't want to do anything and I listened, blah. Mikey was Jack Skellington and pulls it off so well! It was funny though, his bald head got cold and he pulled out a winter hat with Jack Skellington on it, so it was the redundant hat, hehe. Cuteness. Pete was a really cool looking devil, Damien was Spider-Ban (not as hot as my love Spider-Man but close enough), Pete's girl Kymm was a gorgeous dark fairy, Jodi was a good pumpkin witch and her husband Rich was a giant dick, hahaha and there were some other good costumes too. Elmer Fud, another school girl, etc.

There are a million other things I've been meaning to update about but haven't had a chance. I guess the biggest is my job situation. I was so excited to start my full-time job at the animal hospital, but when I got there on my first day and they gave me my orientation, they informed me that they were hiring me as full-time kennel attendant and paying me $8.50 an hour. EXCUSE ME!? That's a 50% pay cut from what I had been making to work a job that I told them I was not interested in. So I told them this and the HR women said that she would talk to the general manager Diane about it because she is the one who had hired me and told me about reception, vet tech, etc for higher pay. So I worked in the kennel for a few days and was miserable. I would get a headache everyday from the cleaning chemicals, would be sore from being on my feet for 8 hours and was just depressed knowing that my 8 hours paycheck was going to be the same as 4 hours at my other jobs. And kennels depress me. This one is nice, clean and the dogs are well care for, but no way around it, it's still a kennel and it depresses me to see all the sweet dogs locked up like that for days on end.

So when the kennel manager came back from her vacation a few days later I questioned her because she had originally interviewed me for kennel and I told her I wasn't interested and she set up the interview with Diane for the other positions, so she should have known what was going on. She said Diane was off because she was moving and she didn't know when she would be back but she would e-mail her. Well Diane never wrote back and apparently she had stopped in here and there for meetings and to pick up her cats and whatnot but I was getting no response and could not afford to work in the kennel for more than 2 weeks so I just quit. I feel stupid anyway, because even if I was starting at $12.50 and doing a job I liked, it is still less than I could make grooming full-time. I just kept telling myself that I don't want to groom full-time and that I am not ready to start my own business and that I need experience working for a company first, blah blah blah.

Bull shit, I AM ready and I'm going to do it. Yesterday grooming I made almost 4 TIMES what I would have made for 8 hours in the kennel and the customers that I already have love me. It's a no brainer and I feel foolish for not believing in myself in the first place. So YES I am starting my own dog grooming business. It's going to be a lot of work, but I am so excited about it. I really want to go mobile, so I have to talk to my friend Liz about using her trailer for a bit to get a feel for it, then I'll buy my own. She already offered it to me awhile back but I kept saying that I wasn't ready. Until then, I am going to continue working for Allyn, but also start a mini-business under her business. This is something I had thought of before, but I didn't want to burden her with it, so I never brought it up, but SHE was the one who brought it up! She returned from vacation with over 90 phone messages, and a bunch were new clients and she can't handle the volume of her business anymore so she said she would like to have me take on some of the clients and do more of my own thing there. Plus when I don't have my own clients, I will still be making hourly money by helping her with hers. So that combined with doing my own dogs will be a good income. And then doing a few with Liz's trailer... I just need to start small and eventually I will be ready to get my trailer and go out on my own. I'm so excited.

I'm looking into the cost of everything. A truck and trailer isn't all that bad, but then I'll have to either get rid of my car and pay a lot more for gas on a daily basis, or keep my car and have two car insurance payments, I'll need liability insurance and heath insurance for myself (I am off of my dad's plan when I turn 25 in January). I really wanted to move out soon but I am going to put that off until I am settled in a business. I am so lucky that my dad isn't charging me rent as long as I am in school, that way I can really get on my feet before I move out even though it is so tempting. I feel in love with a house in my price range and was so tempted to just do it but I have to be patient! It will be worth it...

School is going great. I finished my first class last Thursday so I start a new one this Thursday. I REALLY like this program it is perfect for me. The 4 hour classes are actually fun and interesting, no long lectures, just lots of active learning and I learn so much from the other people in my class since I am the youngest! I got an A on my first paper too. I just have to revise it a little, add in come concepts and examples I learned throughout the past 5 weeks of class and then hand it in as my summery paper for the course and if I get an A on that too, I will have an A for the course. I'm hoping. Meanwhile, I have to go today to buy my books for my next class so I can do my homework and reading that is due for this Thursday. It defiantly does move fast, but I think this is the best schooling decision I have made in my life.

Something else I don't think I posted about was that sometime last month I officially ended my friendship with Tammy. I hate liars. I don't need to be friends with someone who makes up fake terminal illnesses for sympathy, lies about her job to sound accomplished, lies about her living situation and family-life to gain sympathy, lies about having a college degree to look smarter and worst of all, tells her friends that my mom killed herself. I have no clue how that one benefited her, but how dare you lie about something as serious as that? So glad to have washed my hands of that headcase.

10:45 pm - "I guess we'll never know exactly where this river's gonna flow"
"Sept 15, 2006 Tulsa, OK - Taylor and Natalie Hanson are proud to welcome their 3rd child, son River Samuel Hanson, born September 4th in Tulsa OK. Said Taylor Hanson of the newest member of their family, "River is an incredible addition to our family, we could not be happier!"

Taylor, along with brothers Isaac & Zac, are currently finishing recording of their 4th studio album, to be released in early 2007. The album is the follow up to 2004's Underneath, the inaugural recording for the band's own 3CG Records label, which debuted #1 on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart and was one of the most successful self-releases of all time."

Wow, giving birth to kid number 3 at the age of 22, sounds like fun to me... and what the fuck is up with their names!? First Ezra, then Penelope, now River!? WHY DO THEY KEEP NAMING THEIR KIDS AFTER THEIR SONGS!? They have a song called River and a song called Penny and Me, both which came before the kids were born. Child number 4 will be named MMMBop I'm sure.

::sigh:: I am SO ready for the new album though. They say early 2007 so I'm thinking we'll see it by late 2008 if we're lucky.

My car ROCKS!!!!! I finally got to pick it up tonight! Ran some errands then picked Philip up from work and drove us to Appetites for our normal Friday night drinks. I've already made a list of all the stuff I want for it, hehehe. A spoiler, some decals, yay!!!!! Gotta pimp the ride, ya know????? What should I name my car?

Also got my pink Razr which I've been wanting for a year but have only been able to justify getting over the past few months because my phone has been SO unreliable. Yeah... that's what happens when you drop it in the toilet! At only $100 I couldn't resist, and now I can actually be comfortable with my phone in my pocket. My Sony Ericsson is SO BIG! Also got new carpets for my bathroom but now I'm wondering if you black would look better than pink cause I have SO much pink in my bathroom and not much black... It's a pink, black and white bathroom with poodles everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE!

5:32 pm - Labor Day
Philip and I had a great two days at Ocean City MD with Ron and April. We got a late start cause we were at Damien's house til 5am Saturday morning so we ended up sleeping all day Saturday. It didn't rain and wasn't too cold which was nice. We ate lots of boardwalk fries and other yummy food and did lots of shopping. April and I bought matching celtic rings so we decided they are friendship rings. We also had Hawaiin Shave Ice which I used to be obsessed with as a kid. Robin and I used to get them in pina colada and bubble gum flavors. There was sand EVERYWHERE from the storm. Benches were covered, sides of buildings were covered... it was amazing.

Went to Damien's again last night and I got completly hammered. I mean worse than I have EVER been. I actually felt like I was going to throw up at one point when we got home and I have never thrown up from drinking. I never throw up period. I just feel sick and it eventually goes away, no vomit, I don't know why. We started out at Appetites and I downed a few martini's and discovered a new drink which is basically like drinking a 12 ounce shot, haha. It's a Stoli punch with 4 kinds of Stoli and then some pinapple and cranberry... yeah.... I was done after that, but then proceeded to inhale a few Mike's Hard Lime with Alice at Damien's house and yeah, it was bad... I drank so much so fast on an empty stomach...yeah. And I somehow don't have a hangover! I must have slept through it. I hope I didn't piss anyone off too much. I know Alice and I were being WAY too loud outside at 1am so I feel bad about that. I am very loud and stupid when I drink, but I haven't lost any friends because of it yet... I need to work on trying to at least control my volume. I also left my phone over there cause I was texting back and forth with April and left it on the table dammit. So I won't get that til tomorrow.

My car should be ready for me to drive home Wednesday or Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:56 pm - New Life!
Well, it's official, I bought my first car! I went with the 2004 Nissan Sentra from Car Sense. I test drove it today and loved it! The only thing is it was listed as charcoal grey and was too new for a picture so I was thinking of a dark graphite color which was my first choice, but it ended up being a lighter ash grey. But for what a good deal it was, I can't argue about color. At least it's still in the silver family. It was $12,500, plus I got a $500 trade in for my car (I seriously only expected about $200 so that was a nice surprise!) and I got the extended warranty (covers it until 100,000 miles) and all that because if you end up not using it you get your money back. So I wrote a check for $4,000 and my payment is about $228 per month for the next 5 years, plus $177 insurance per month, but that will go down a little bit in January when I turn 25. YAY!!!!!! I won't get it until next week though because it just got delivered to Car Sense last night so they haven't done any of the work on it yet. I am so excited to see it all cleaned up and detailed as well!

I had my second interview for Windcrest Animal Hospital (the one in Wilmington DE that I LOVED but was looking at me for an $8 an hour kennel position) and they were interested in using me for grooming in the future and receoptionist at $12.50 an hour with a raise after 6 months. They currently have a full time groomer at the hospital, but she is pregnant and will be going on leave in about 6-7 months so they will need a fill-in, plus they own two other hospitals (Hockessin and Talleyville) and they might need help at Hockessin and currently don't offer grooming in Talleyville and they want so, she wants to me consider grooming there in the future as well. They also said they could cross train me so I could learn to be a vet tech too, which also pays well. I love being able to do different things at work (which is why I always have like a million part time jobs!) so the idea of being able to do reception, vet tech and grooming is so awesome to me, because that's what I really wanted, to be able to do more than one job! All they have to do is check my references and whatnot and I should be in! I LOVE this hospital!!!!! My benefits would start in 6 months and vet car for my dog would start in 3. I can still groom my clients at Allyn's every so often for extra cash, and housesit/petsit, but I will definatly have to cut back on that because most of my clients are on the Main Line (Devon, Wayne, Paoli) and I would have to leave the dogs for like 10 hours and that won't work... But I might pick up some new clients in the West Chester/Chadds Ford/Wilmington area if I advertise at the hospital.

I also had my orientation and registration for Immaculata today, bought books and got my first home work assignment. Class starts in 2 weeks! Today was like the beginning of a new life, it felt so good! I finally feel like I'm doing something right and being responsible for once. With the school situation, I basically made the decision and did all the work for Immaculata in 2 days. For, work I made the decision and re-did my resume in a day and applied for jobs the next day (and Windcrest was actually the first job I put in for I think! They just took a long time to get back to me). The car thing took me exactly one week. My car broke last Thursday so I spent 2-5 hours a day researching cars and prices, talking to people and making lots of decisions and ended up getting a car a week later.

Had a great time at the club last night! Jonathan finally had one of his "ideal summer nights" and met a girl but he is now in love with Philip and trying to steal him from me! hahahahahahaha. Got to meet Adams wife who grew up on a farm in Wyoming so we talked horses. Tucci actually came out too!

Fay I'm gonna try to come to Vesago tomorrow!!! It really sucks living in the suburbs and having to rely on other people for rides! One more week!!!!!

It's supposed to be cold and rainy for our weekend at the beach, this sucks! I never go anywhere and when I finally get to go somewhere for 2 days, the weather won't cooperate, blah. Oh well, it's still somewhere that's not home and I can't wait to see April!

I just got a call from Radnor Vet Hospital to offer me the job I interviewed for last week. It sounds great, but the pay is only $9 an hour... After the 3 months probation my insurance and benefits would start as well as my first raise. Employees pay 20% of insurance which is great cause a lot of times it's as high as one third. Plus I'd get at cost vet care for Kelly and the location is convinent to a lot of the places I housesit at so I could continue to do that and make up for the crappy $9 an hour, and Allyn's house is on the way to it from my house so I could always schedule myself one dog to groom a week one day after work to make an extra $50-$60 for 2-3 hours of work... ::shrugs:: As much as I didn't want to be a full time groomer, it seems like that's the only way I'm going to make any real money! I need to work on budget and income statements...

Now back to searching for cars... I gotta call Graces dad and see what he has.

12:05 am - Test Drive
Philip took me to Del Toyota today to see a car that we looked at last night: 2000 Corolla, 74,000 miles, $6,400 (which is less than the Kelley blue book price) but the guy said he would give it to us for $6,000 plus my Cavalier if we took it today which was out of the question, but I'm sure he would let us have it tomorrow as well. Of course Phil test drove it, did all the talking, checked it out and acted like he was the one buying it, I just sat there in my low cut top and short skirt, haha. I could never smooth talk the way he did, it's not my thing, at least not when I'm buying. I'm good at doing that as the seller! Anyway, it was definatly a great deal and in great shape, and they have it listed on autotrader.com at $7,695! I don't know what I am going to do. I went from wanting to spend under $4,000 to a downpayment of $4,000 and financing $2,000 - $3,000 and now I'm thinking of going into the $10,000 - $12,000 range and doing a $5,000 down payment and financing the rest. SO MANY OPTIONS! Or I could put the $1,500 - $2,000 into my Cavalier that is worth about $200 and hope it doesn't break in another few months, but I'll just have to go through this next year if I do that, maybe sooner. We already put over $2,000 in it not even a year ago and $4,000 to keep a car running for a year is not worth it! I saw a Nissan on CarSense that I like... anyway, I need a fucking car! Sharing and finding rides is hard! It is not possible to live in the suburbs without a car! Maybe I should just buy a bicycle, that would be cheaper and good exercise!

I have so much going on this week, it's not a good week not to have a car. Work Mon-Fri and 4 appointments to go to: 2 lazer appointments, a hair appointment and a 2nd interview at Windcrest (the awesome animal hospital in Wilmington) with the manager to see about other openings cause that $8 an hour job is NOT happening. How can you pay off a car with $8 an hour!? My dad needs to go to the shore at some point this week so I don't know what I'm going to do.

I can't wait until this weekend! Three days off and VACATION!!! We are not 100% sure of our plans but some include Atlantic City on Saturday and visiting April and Ron in their hotel (with an extra bed in the room so we don't have to sleep on the floor if we spend the night!) in Ocean City Maryland at some point. I have never been there and have always wanted to go.

car died today. fuck me, i need a car now. i dont kno how to buy a car i dont kno how ot pay for a car... yeah... i am such a dumb blonde that i would let some sales guy sell me an $800 for $8000. philip offered to help me buy a car though since he knows about those things...

so yeah im just driving to work listening to my precious hanson and and i hear what sounds like a motorcycle passing somewhere. and it doesnt stop or get louder or softer and i see no motorcycle so i turn my radio off and realize that MY car is making the motorcycle noise. or as the guy at the auto shop said, my car sounds like a dump truck. sooooo since i dont kno a damn thing about cars i pull over thinking its gonna just explode any minute. phil works 5 min from where i pulled over so he leaves work to look at my car and says it the exaust and i should take it in asap but im ok to finish driving to work (i was like 3 miles away) and then to drive home. so i did just that with lots of people looking at my loud obnoxious car funny and then dropped it at the shop on my way home. borrowed dads caddy to go to my job interview. i am in LOVE with this animal hospital! its in wilmington and is just amazing. but the job pays $8 an hour, are you kidding me? i make almost twice that now under the table and sometimes more. i could work 15 hours a week and make more than 40 hours there. sooo... there are a bunch of other jobs available there so the manager is going to call me in a few days with whats else available that might work for me cause $8 an hour is impossible to live off of.

SO auto place called me and opened with the same questions he always asks me when something is seriously wrong with my car which has been happening quite frequently. "What are your plans for the car?" and im just like, uh oh... so yeah, there more than just the exaust wrong with it and were looking at almost $2,000 again and my car isnt even worth $1,500 so i'm officially car shoppping. i was hoping to start looking in a few months after i had a full-time job for a few months but my car couldn't wait that long.

uncle dennys viewing was today. i hate open caskets. he looked AWFUL. i wouldnt have recognized him if i didnt kno it was him. tomorrow is 12 hours of driving to hatboro for the second viewing and mass, then driving to nj for the burial, then dinner... i hate funerals. i swear im going to get an ulcer cause i wont cry in public, i just hold it in... i kno hes much happier now and hes out of pain and with his wife and had a good long life, etc etc, but i just being faced with death, esp when you have to see the person, and all you can remember is the last time you saw them a live, then they are lying there dead. and seeing everyone else upset. that kills me, seeing my dad cry or my cousin, his son. i could not know the person and if i saw their son or wife or brother or whoever crying over them, id want to lose it.

Have a job interview today at 2 at Radnor Animal Hospital. Wish me luck! Had an interview at PetSmart last Thursday and they offered me a job as Equine Manager (managing the State Line Tack / horse department) but it's a lot of nights and weekends and I didn't really want that since I want to be able to still put in some hours at my other jobs. I did decide to reconsider so I'm calling for the 2nd interview and to ask for an interview with the salon manager to see if I might want to work as a groomer if I like how they run the salon. Groomers get paid more than anyone in the store, but I'm not sure if I'd want to do it full-time there... Also have to find out how much Equine Manager pays... I didn't ask in my first interview. SO eventually I'll find my new job... I'm just so picky... I also got my resume down to 1 page, I thought it was impossible but I figured out a way to do it. I'm going to drop it off at some more vet's offices today.

Other jobs are still picking up. I groomed a new client yesterday, an English Cocker and he wants to schedule him to come every 5 weeks, yay! Also got a new housesitting client with the CUTEST little 11-week old Portuguese Water Dog puppy.

Visited Darlene and Dan's new apartment last Thursday and it ROCKS I am so jealous!!! I told her I was moving in and Dan could have the extra bedroom, hahaha. Maro and I talked about sharing an apartment once I'm settled in a job so I'm trying to get her to look there with me. It's a 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom 2-story townhome with a private entrace, little porch and fence section in front, space for a grill and a space for a garden, and it's pet-friendly which is a must for me and Miss Kelly. I LOVE the layout and the way the community is setup. It's suprisingly affordable too. I remember looking there with Rob a few years ago and I liked it then, but he only looked at the 1-bedrooms which are really nice but smaller than most other 1-bedrooms. The 2-bedrooms are very spacious and have a good amount of storage space as well as a washer and dryer.

Gracie-Poos was home last week and we got to spend a little bit of time together, but not much. I really have to take a trip to California. Saturday Phil took me to the zoo and then our usual midnight bowling. I love the zoo! I hadn't been there in 5 years. I somehow beat Phil 3 times bowling. My highest score was 141 and I got more strikes then him overall even though he beat me 3 times as well. Usually he kicks my ass everytime but for whatever reason I seemed to have learned to bowl and he was having an off night soo.... Next time I'll probably suck. I decided that the Power Puff Girls ball I used to use must have been bad luck.

My horse is doing much better, hopefully I can ride him in a few days. I'm so glad I didn't call the vet because I saved a ton of $ by draining it myself. Just to get the vet out at the barn is expensive, let alone the additional charges for whatever service they do.

Tomorrow night: Rachel, Mike and Mikey's band Radick is opening for Vast at Grape Street. Everyone should check them out pre-Shampoo. I'm most likley going. Check out their MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/officialradick.

Also, anyone interested in seeing Powerman 5000 on September 24 in Sayreville NJ? It's a Sunday... Fay's boyfriend's band is opening and I'd like to go. I haven't seen PM5K since high school- they put on a good show.
